Research and technology pathways to reduce the Kingdom’s carbon footprint

Carbon dioxide (CO2) control such as its capturing and efficient utilization has emerged as one of the most important area of current R & D focus in all major scientific organizations, industries and especially centers working in renewable and suitable energy technologies.

Roadmap to CO2 control

Research, development, demonstration and Deployment

Being the leading sustainable energy technology center in the Kingdom, the SET center has initiated extensive R & D for the CO2 control and its efficient utilization.

Our R & D focus rests firmly in the development of new catalyst materials, which can electrochemically reduce CO2 into useful products (carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons).

Our mission for CO2 control is develop commercially viable reactor design, which can be powered by solar energy for the catalytic conversion of CO2 into useful products.

Since, there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere, we are aiming to turn some of it back into useful products. Our future goal is to produce synthetic gas and synthetic diesel from CO2 (captured from the atmosphere) and by utilizing our renewable hydrogen (from solar water splitting).
