Admission

Introduction

King Saud University (KSU) has already identified itself as a strategic partner of the industry and a major contributor to the establishment of the knowledge-based society. Consequently, KSU has given major importance to graduate studies to develop a generation of distinguished researchers that can be an important asset towards fulfilling KSU vision. The master program in Renewable Energy comes in full compliance with KSU directives of working heavily to improve considerably the output of scientific research both quantitatively and qualitatively in order to complement the role of KSU in providing highly qualified human resources and distinguished researchers and innovators and in strongly contributing in finding solutions of the technical problems to the industrial society.

MS renewable energy is interdisciplinary program that anticipate market trends and responds to national needs. KSU provides full MS fellowship for distinguished graduate applicants with a very good academic record having a strong commitment and dedication for graduate studies and a potential for quality research in the fields of science and engineering.

Application Procedure

All graduate admissions are administered by the Deanship of Graduate Studies (DGS). The candidates are required to submit online application, available on the website of DGS during the application periods on the link: http://dgs.ksu.edu.sa.

All Documents should be submitted via the upload system only in PDF format, except the recommendation letters which should be submitted by the academic referees themselves via the online recommendation system. All these documents need to be submitted before the deadline set for uploading documents and recommendation letters.

Mandatory documents for application (without which application will not be processed)

  • Copy of identification (National ID for Saudi nationals / Passport for international applicants / Iqama for residents of Saudi Arabia).
  • Complete official transcripts for BS degree
  • Statement-of-Purpose (a one-page essay describing the career and research goals).
  • Recommendation letters from 3 Professors through the online recommendation system after submitting the online application

Admission Requirements

The center academic council recommends the admission of the applicant on the basis of various factors; however general admission requirements for MS program in renewable energy are as below:

  • Applicants are required to have a B.Sc. degree in any of the following specializations: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics
  • A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent.
  • The candidates whose first language is not English must have minimum TOEFL score of 500 on the paper-based test, a score of 170 on the computer-based test, a score of 60 on the internet-based test, or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of 6.0. The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KSU code is 7498).
  • Minimum score in GRE Quantitative must be 600
  • At least three letters of recommendation from the faculty who taught the applicant university-level courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
  • Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for final admission.

Note: Satisfying the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the program as the final admission is subject to an evaluation of all the applications, and the capacity of individual programs.

A student at KSU will have following financial benefits during his graduate studies:
